Style and approach

A Brilliant Photo is the work of photographer Agnieszka Wormus. She is based in Allschwil and photographs weddings in the Basel region. Weddings were where her work as a photographer began; today it also includes families, portraits and architecture. Having originally studied architecture, she pays close attention to rooms, buildings and details at a celebration.

Before a couple books, she likes to meet them informally over coffee or tea. The couple talk about their plans, she shows complete wedding stories rather than single pictures, and together they work out whether it is a good fit. Mutual trust matters to her as much as good pictures.

On the wedding day, depending on the coverage booked, she is there from getting dressed through the vows to the dance floor. Anyone unsure what to do with their hands in front of the camera gets help from her. She looks for the better light and will briefly set up a portrait when it is needed. After that she deliberately steps back, so that moments can happen in which nobody is thinking about the camera.

For her, the story of the day is not only the couple, but also family, children and friends, flowers, rings, the laid table and the architecture of the venue. When the schedule slips, she stays relaxed. Besides full-day coverage, she offers a shorter package for a civil ceremony and drinks reception, as well as engagement sessions.
